I've Been Drinkin'

June 23, 2017

If there is one thing in life I have learned its you should celebrate EVERYTHING. So of course the minute my sweet friend Charme of Charme Silkiner Jewelry called to tell me she was going to be releasing a few of her favorite pieces in rose gold, I was ready to pop a bottle and throw some confetti! She invited me over to see the latest additions to her incredible line and instead of a little bubbly, we decided to try a summer twist on the always popular Moscow Mule – and its AMAZING.

WATERMELON MOSCOW MULES

Makes 2 Drinks

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces vodka

  • 2 ounces Belvoir Organic Ginger Beer

  • 2 ounces watermelon simple syrup

  • 1 ounce lime juice

  • 2 small watermelon wedges

  • 2 large mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the vodka, simple syrup and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.

  2. Pour vodka mixture into two ice filled mule mugs. Top each glass with 1 oz of ginger beer. Garnish with watermelon wedges and mint springs. Enjoy!

for the watermelon syrup

  • 1/4 cups large watermelon (approximately 3 cups cubed)

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

for the watermelon syrup

  1. Slice out the flesh of the watermelon and chop into small chunks. Combine watermelon sides with water and sugar in a saucepan.

  2. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes, until the watermelon has almost disintegrated. Use the back of a fork to mash any bits of watermelon that aren't breaking down.

  3. Leave to simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the syrup has thickened and the liquid has reduced greatly.

  4. Sieve it into a bowl and stir in the lemon juice. Pour into a jar, leave to cool to room temperature then store in the fridge.

I couldn't just show up empty handed and a party without dessert is really just a meeting so I packed up a box of my hand painted watermelon macarons. These little cuties are perfect for summer and if you love a watermelon Jolly Rancher this one is for you!

Charme's new rose gold pieces are just stunning. Every detail is perfection and I always have so much fun getting to style ANYTHING. I mean seriously?? So. Gorgeous.
